What is Botox?
Botox is an injectable product that softens lines and creases on the face. These lines appear over time with age due to conscious and subconscious muscle-flexing. Your skin creases in certain areas when you make certain facial expressions, thus forming lines that eventually remain in place even when relaxed.
Botox works to erase or minimize these lines by affecting the muscles contributing to them. More specifically, the neuromodulator in Botox called botulinum toxin temporarily stops targeted motor nerves from communicating with the muscles. Therefore, those muscles cannot flex either subconsciously or consciously.
